Queens Home Invasion Leaves Three Men Stabbed and Woman Shot by Police

A violent home invasion in South Jamaica, Queens on Friday night left four people injured: three men stabbed inside the home and a woman shot by responding officers after she advanced toward them with a knife.

Officers from the NYPD's 113th Precinct responded to a residence on 149th Street in South Jamaica at around 10 p.m. on October 23 following reports of a home invasion. After receiving no answer at the front or back doors, two men appeared at a second-floor window, one of whom said he had been stabbed by his uncle and could not come downstairs. Shortly after, a woman at a third-floor window threw down a set of keys, allowing officers to enter through a rear door. Inside a second-floor bedroom, officers found a chaotic scene with two men and a woman in a struggle. The woman — the same person who had thrown down the keys — was holding a knife and refused repeated commands to drop it. When she moved toward officers, one discharged his firearm, striking her. A taser was also deployed. She was transported to Jamaica Hospital and is expected to survive. Three men in the home were found with stab wounds: a 23-year-old stabbed in the left shoulder, a 39-year-old stabbed in the right arm, and a 48-year-old with a slash wound to his right pinky. All are expected to survive. Investigators are looking at the 48-year-old as a possible aggressor, though as of early Saturday morning no arrests had officially been made. NYPD Chief of Patrol Philip Rivera said police do not believe the woman who was shot was responsible for the home invasion or the initial stabbings. The NYPD's Force Investigation Division is reviewing the officer-involved shooting.
