Houthi Missile Barrage on Yemeni Army Training Camp Kills at Least 73

Iran-aligned Houthi forces fired three ballistic missiles at a government security forces training camp in Yemen's Shabwa province, killing at least 73 people and wounding more than 200, in one of the deadliest single attacks of the renewed conflict.

Iran-aligned Houthi forces launched a ballistic missile barrage against a Yemeni government security forces training camp at Al-Alam in Shabwa province on or around October 19–20, 2026, killing at least 73 people and wounding more than 200 others. Shabwa's provincial governor Awad al-Wazir initially reported 58 dead; the toll subsequently rose to 73 as rescue operations continued and 14 further personnel remained missing. Local authority sources confirmed that three ballistic missiles struck the camp during a training exercise, causing mass casualties. The attack is one of the deadliest single strikes of the resumed fighting between the Houthis and the internationally recognised Yemeni government, which is backed by a Saudi-led coalition. The renewed offensive follows Houthi advances in September toward territory near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, a critical shipping chokepoint at the mouth of the Red Sea. The attack drew international condemnation and raised fresh fears about the stability of the region's fragile ceasefire arrangements and the safety of commercial shipping routes.
