TikTok Builds a Taylor Swift 'Patient Zero' Hub With Phased Fan Unlocks
TikTok has launched a dedicated in-app hub for Taylor Swift's "Patient Zero," challenging fans to unlock behind-the-scenes clips through collective goals and personal challenges, as Swift continues to give streaming platforms a head start on her videos before YouTube.
TikTok has created a dedicated hub inside its app for Taylor Swift's "Patient Zero," the lead single from The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore — the expanded edition of Swift's 2025 album that arrived on September 25, adding four tracks: Patient Zero, Cleveland!, Pink Clouding, and Babylon.
Fans who search "Taylor Swift" or "Patient Zero" in the app are directed to the Search Hub. TikTok explained on September 30 that the experience, which launched alongside the album, will "continue to unfold in phases" over the coming week, with three behind-the-scenes clip unlocks tied to a collective fan goal. "Some moments will take the whole fandom," TikTok said.
Individual users can earn an exclusive Swift profile frame by following @taylorswift and @taylornation, saving Patient Zero to a music app, posting a video using the song, and listening to full tracks on TikTok. The hub also hosts official videos, the full tracklist, and a Fan Spotlight section.
The campaign follows TikTok's hub for The Life of a Showgirl during the original album's release in October 2025 — which included a fan installation at Westfield Century City in Los Angeles from October 3 to 9 — and an earlier experience for The Tortured Poets Department in April 2024. Swift now has over 33.4 million TikTok followers and 278.6 million likes, up from 25.3 million followers and 223.7 million likes in April 2024.
Swift directed Patient Zero herself and premiered it at the MTV VMAs on September 27, collecting the inaugural Artist Director Honors. The full video was released to Spotify Premium, Apple Music, and Amazon Music before becoming available on YouTube on September 29.
