World record: 200 choirs sing for 125 hours in Berlin-Wedding

More than 200 choirs from Germany and six other countries took turns singing non-stop for 125 hours at the Atze Musiktheater in Wedding, setting a world record for the longest choir concert to mark the 125th anniversary of the Chorverband Berlin.

Choirs in Berlin have set a world record for the longest choir concert, singing for 125 hours without a break. The occasion was the 125th anniversary of the Chorverband Berlin (Berlin Choir Association). From Monday to Saturday, more than 200 choirs from Germany and six other countries took turns on stage at the Atze Musiktheater in Berlin-Wedding. A record adjudicator from the Rekord-Institut fuer Deutschland (RID), the German-language counterpart to the London-based record book, followed the entire performance and confirmed the record after the concert ended. According to the organisers and the adjudicator, singing continuously for 125 hours required a huge organisational effort as well as passion, cohesion and stamina. Participants included the RIAS Kammerchor and "Berlin's 4", an ensemble made up of members of the Rundfunkchor Berlin.
