SK Hynix Posts First-Ever Quarterly Revenue Above 100 Trillion Won on AI Chip Demand
SK hynix reported third-quarter revenue of 104.62 trillion won ($73.2 billion), crossing the 100 trillion won threshold for the first time, as surging demand for artificial intelligence memory chips pushed the chipmaker to record results.
SK hynix disclosed on October 28 that its third-quarter consolidated revenue reached 104.62 trillion won ($73.2 billion), the first time in the company's history that quarterly revenue has surpassed the 100 trillion won mark. The result represents a 327.9% jump from the same quarter a year earlier and a 31.9% increase from the prior quarter, setting an all-time high. Operating profit for the quarter came in at 83.33 trillion won ($58.3 billion), a 632.1% rise year-on-year and a 37.6% gain quarter-on-quarter. Both figures exceeded analyst consensus estimates by 8% to 9%, the company said in a regulatory filing. SK hynix credited the extraordinary growth to booming demand for artificial intelligence memory chips, which has driven consecutive quarters of sharp revenue and profit expansion at the South Korean chipmaker.
