Qatar Airways Cuts Winter 2026–27 Flights by 5.7%, Slashing US and European Routes

Qatar Airways has filed a revised winter schedule reducing total departures from 41,178 to 38,825, with New York, Los Angeles, and Washington among the hardest-hit routes and eleven destinations suspended entirely.

Qatar Airways submitted a revised Northern winter 2026–27 flight schedule reducing total one-way passenger departures by 5.7%, from a planned 41,178 to 38,825, while available seat capacity falls by 1.4% to approximately 11.05 million seats. The changes take effect from 25 October 2026. US routes are hit hardest: New York JFK drops from 18 to 14 weekly flights, Los Angeles from daily to just four weekly departures, Washington Dulles from 10 to seven, and Seattle from seven to five. European losses include Hamburg and Venice Marco Polo, while NEOM Bay, Sofia, Malta, and the multi-stop Doha–Djibouti–Mogadishu service are suspended. Cebu, Kano, Nagpur, Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen, and Mogadishu are also cut, bringing suspended destinations to eleven in total. Croatia and Serbia lose daily service from Doha. At the same time, Qatar Airways is boosting frequencies on high-demand routes: Kuala Lumpur rises from 14 to 18 weekly flights, Bangkok grows from 35 toward 42 weekly, and London Heathrow climbs from 50 to 56 weekly services. Berlin also gains additional flights. Aviation analysts noted the final reduction was smaller than earlier speculation had suggested, given ongoing fleet constraints affecting the carrier's wide-body availability. The airline listed three Iranian cities in its schedule filing but noted reservations are not open for those destinations.
