Netflix will host a one-off live event on October 30 in which members of the public can challenge 19-year-old darts champion Luke Littler for a £501,000 ($667,000) prize, produced by Banijay-backed Workerbee.
Netflix is staging a live darts event on October 30 where members of the public will have the chance to go head-to-head against teenage champion Luke Littler for a £501,000 ($667,000) jackpot. Applications are now open. The prize figure is a deliberate nod to the 501 points that players work down from in a standard leg of darts. A qualifying tournament for those wishing to compete will take place in London and Manchester in September, ahead of the one-off live event, which is being produced by Banijay-backed Workerbee.
Littler, 19, announced the event in a video posted this morning, asking "Reckon you could beat me in a game of darts?" while scrolling through social media messages from people confident they could beat him. He has become the most recognizable name in the sport after winning the past two World Darts Championships and the most recent Premier League.
The event comes from Netflix UK's live team, led by Daisy Lilley, which was formed earlier this year following the success of programmes including Skyscraper Live and the boxing match between Tyson Fury and Arslanbek Makhmudov.
