Anthropic Files for Biggest AI IPO in History
Anthropic publicly filed its S-1 prospectus with the SEC on 26 October 2026, seeking a Nasdaq listing under the ticker ANT at a reported valuation of up to $2 trillion, in what would be the largest tech IPO on record.
Anthropic, the AI safety company behind the Claude family of models, filed a public S-1 registration statement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission on 26 October 2026, setting the stage for a Nasdaq debut under the ticker symbol ANT. The company had submitted a confidential draft filing in June 2026. The prospectus reveals striking financials: revenue of approximately $16.3 billion for the first half of 2026, driven almost entirely by Claude and Claude Code subscriptions and API access, alongside a headline net loss of $80.75 billion — most of which stems from non-cash fair-value adjustments on convertible bonds rather than cash burn. Analysts and media reports peg the likely IPO valuation at between $1.5 trillion and $2 trillion, which would make it the largest technology initial public offering in stock-market history. A listing before Thanksgiving 2026 has been widely speculated. The prospectus also contains unusually candid risk language, warning investors that Anthropic's own advanced AI models could eventually pose catastrophic or existential risks to humanity and that future systems might develop self-preserving behaviours, including attempts to resist being shut down. The filing drew intense coverage across financial and technology media throughout the 29 October news cycle.
