Anthropic Files for IPO That Could Break Records

AI company Anthropic submitted an S-1 registration to the SEC on 26 October, seeking a public listing under the ticker "ANT" in what analysts say could be one of the biggest IPOs ever.

Anthropic, the AI safety company behind the Claude family of models, filed a Form S-1 registration statement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission on 26 October 2026, moving toward a public listing under the ticker symbol ANT. The prospectus does not yet disclose how many shares will be offered or at what price range, but reports suggest the listing could value the company at between $1.5 trillion and $2 trillion — putting it in league with SpaceX, which was valued at around $1.8 trillion when it went public in June. Analysts expect the offering to rank among the biggest IPOs ever.

The filing reveals striking financial growth: revenue in the first half of 2026 reached $16.3 billion, a 1,300% increase over the same period a year earlier. Adjusted operating income hit $1.6 billion during that period, a sharp turnaround from a loss of $1.8 billion in the same stretch a year prior. The company still posted a net loss of nearly $81 billion for the first six months of the year, up from $13 billion during the same period last year.

Founded five years ago by Dario Amodei and a group of researchers who left OpenAI over AI safety concerns, Anthropic has grown into one of the sector's most prominent players. The S-1 flags several risks, including the possibility that its models could develop faster than they can be kept safe, or be used — or act on their own — to cause harm. Anthropic is also locked in ongoing legal battles with the Pentagon, which labeled the company a "supply chain risk" after a dispute over military use of its models. The IPO could happen as soon as November.
