All 46 Hokusai "Thirty-Six Views" Shown Together in UK for the First Time

Dulwich Picture Gallery in London opened a landmark exhibition on 20 October featuring every print from the Iuchi Collection's complete set of Hokusai's celebrated Mount Fuji series, including a rare blue-impression "Blue Fuji" and three pristine copies of "The Great Wave".

On 20 October 2026, Dulwich Picture Gallery in south London opened 'Hokusai: Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji from the Iuchi Collection,' the first time in the United Kingdom that all 46 prints from the iconic series have been displayed together. Although the series bears the title 'Thirty-Six Views,' Hokusai added ten further prints after the initial 36 proved a commercial success, bringing the full set to 46 works, all created between 1830 and 1833 when the artist was in his seventies. The works, on loan from the Iuchi Collection in partnership with Tokyo's National Museum of Western Art, are celebrated for their innovative use of Prussian blue, unconventional perspective and humorous storytelling. Exhibition highlights include three well-preserved impressions of 'Under the Wave off Kanagawa' — the instantly recognisable 'Great Wave' — and an exceptionally rare blue-impression of 'Clear Day with a Southern Breeze,' known as the 'Blue Fuji,' of which only seven comparable impressions are known to survive worldwide. The exhibition runs through 17 January 2027. Adult tickets are priced from £20; visitors under 18 enter free. The show is billed as a once-in-a-generation opportunity given the fragility of ukiyo-e woodblock prints and the rarity with which the entire Iuchi set travels abroad.
