Two shot in Berlin-Schöneberg, police investigate clan link
Two people were shot and wounded in Schöneberg in a daylight attack, with the gunmen fleeing by car; investigators are examining a possible organised-crime background.
Two people were shot and seriously injured on 10 October 2026 in Berlin-Schöneberg, Tagesspiegel reported. According to police, the gunmen opened fire on the street before fleeing in two cars. Both victims were rushed to hospital, and investigators cordoned off a wide area around the scene. The state criminal police office took over the case, with officers examining whether the shooting is linked to a dispute between organised-crime families, a so-called 'clan' background that has been investigated in several similar incidents in the capital. A manhunt was launched with road blocks across the inner city, but by the evening the suspects remained at large. Witnesses described hearing multiple shots and seeing cars speed away. Prosecutors said attempted murder was being considered as a charge. The shooting rekindled debate in Berlin politics over how to tackle organised criminal networks that have been blamed for a string of brazen attacks in public spaces in recent years.
