Roche to Present Phase III Data Showing Divarasib Beats Existing Lung Cancer Standard at ESMO 2026

Roche announced on October 19 it will present trial results at ESMO 2026 in Madrid showing its next-generation lung cancer drug divarasib outperforms first-generation KRAS inhibitors, alongside positive breast cancer data for giredestrant.

On October 19, 2026, Roche and its US subsidiary Genentech announced they will present pivotal data from two late-breaking abstracts at the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Annual Meeting, held October 23–27 in Madrid. The centrepiece is the Phase III Krascendo 1 trial of divarasib, a next-generation KRAS G12C inhibitor for previously treated advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). This is the only global head-to-head trial comparing a next-generation KRAS G12C inhibitor directly against approved first-generation inhibitors; results showed divarasib was superior to the existing standard of care — a potentially landmark finding given that lung cancer is the world's deadliest malignancy and KRAS G12C mutations are among the most common oncogenic drivers. The data will be presented as a late-breaking abstract at a Presidential Symposium. In breast cancer, Roche also announced patient-reported outcomes from the Phase III lidERA study of giredestrant, an oral selective oestrogen receptor degrader for early-stage breast cancer. Those data show giredestrant improves efficacy over standard endocrine therapy without compromising quality of life or tolerability, strengthening its case as a potential new standard of care. Roche will additionally present data across other tumour types during the conference. The ESMO announcements reinforce Roche's oncology pipeline at a critical moment as both compounds approach potential regulatory review.
