Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Launches Worldwide on PS5, Xbox and PC
Infinity Ward's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 officially released on October 23, 2026, marking the 23rd entry in the franchise and arriving on next-gen platforms only, without Game Pass day-one access.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision, launched worldwide on October 23, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. The game is the 23rd installment in the long-running Call of Duty franchise and the fourth entry in the rebooted Modern Warfare sub-series. Notably, unlike recent entries Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7, Modern Warfare 4 will not be available on Xbox Game Pass on release day, with Activision opting to hold it off the subscription service for at least a year. Players who pre-ordered digitally were able to access the 16-mission campaign from October 16, a week ahead of the multiplayer launch. Early access campaign reviews drew praise, with critics suggesting Infinity Ward may have delivered one of the better single-player Call of Duty campaigns in years. The game is not available on last-generation hardware, making it a true next-gen-only release — the franchise's clearest generational leap in years.
