Tarantino Confirms His Tenth and Final Film Script Is Complete, But West End Play Comes First
Quentin Tarantino announced he has finished writing the script for his tenth and final film, but his West End swashbuckling play will take priority before any production begins.
Quentin Tarantino revealed on the 16 October 2026 episode of The Graham Norton Show, with the news widely reported on 18 and 19 October, that he has completed a script for his tenth film, the project he has long said will be his last. He described the script as something he really likes but stressed there is no rush to produce it. His immediate priority is The Popinjay Cavalier, a swashbuckling stage play he has authored, which begins West End previews on 23 February 2027. Tarantino said he wants to do the play and see who he is then, take time with his family and live a little before deciding what comes next. The director, whose last film was Once Upon a Time in Hollywood in 2019, confirmed the new script is distinct from his previously announced and subsequently abandoned project The Movie Critic. No cast, title, or production timeline for the film was shared. The announcement ended years of speculation about whether Tarantino would ever return to directing.
