Knicks Beat Pistons 111–97 for First Win of the Season
Karl-Anthony Towns posted 27 points and 20 rebounds as the New York Knicks snapped a season-opening three-game losing streak with a dominant home win over Detroit.
The New York Knicks picked up their first victory of the 2026–27 NBA season on October 28, 2026, defeating the Detroit Pistons 111–97 at Madison Square Garden after dropping their opening three games. Karl-Anthony Towns was the standout performer, finishing with 27 points and 20 rebounds — his 14th career game with at least 25 points and 20 rebounds. Jalen Brunson added 23 points on 5-for-18 shooting but remained aggressive throughout. Mikal Bridges hit four three-pointers after recording none in the team's first three games. The Knicks outscored Detroit 63–25 in the second and third quarters, a dramatic swing from their season-opening pattern of being outscored by 26 points in second halves. Cade Cunningham, Detroit's All-NBA guard, shot just 4-for-14 after the first quarter. Coach Mike Brown credited defensive adjustments. Brunson described the team's approach as "hit singles, focus on little things." The defending NBA champion Knicks had been under early scrutiny after the rough start.
