Rays Level ALCS 2-2 After Rain-Delayed Game 4 Thriller in Cleveland
The Tampa Bay Rays defeated the Cleveland Guardians 7-3 in a rain-delayed ALCS Game 4 at Progressive Field to level the American League Championship Series at two games apiece, with Yandy Díaz hitting a two-run homer in the ninth inning.
The Tampa Bay Rays bounced back emphatically from a Game 3 defeat to defeat the Cleveland Guardians 7-3 in a rain-delayed Game 4 of the 2026 American League Championship Series, levelling the series at 2-2. The game, originally scheduled for Saturday October 17, was pushed back 24 hours by heavy rain in Cleveland. After falling behind 1-0 early, the Rays tied the score in the third inning when Jonathan Aranda drove in Yandy Díaz following a two-out double. Tampa Bay built their advantage steadily, adding three crucial insurance runs in the seventh inning, including an Aranda RBI single. Díaz then capped the scoring in the ninth inning with a two-run home run to seal the result. Aranda, Díaz, and Junior Caminero combined to go 6-for-14 with two doubles, a home run, four runs scored, and five RBI, providing the offensive backbone of the victory. A notable moment came on a Caminero fly ball that had an exit velocity of 110.7 mph and a launch angle of 29 degrees — a ball that would statistically have been a home run in standard conditions, but was tracked down at the wall by Cleveland outfielder Petey Halpin in the damp Cleveland air. The decisive fifth game is now set for Progressive Field, with the series winner advancing to face the Milwaukee Brewers in the World Series.
