American Coal-Fired Pizzeria Ozzy's Apizza Named Best Pizza in London
Time Out London has crowned Ozzy's Apizza at The Bedford Tavern in Finsbury Park the best pizza in the capital, praising its New Haven-style charred, coal-fired crust.
Time Out London has declared Ozzy's Apizza — a pub residency at The Bedford Tavern on Seven Sisters Road in Finsbury Park, north London — the best pizza in the city, shortly after the pizzeria opened there this month. Ozzy's specialises in New Haven-style 'apizza': a thin-crust, coal-fired Connecticut pizza with a characteristically dark, charred and 'unfloppable' base. Time Out contributor Ella Doyle praised it as 'crisp, charred and entirely unfloppable, with a serious, satisfying chew.' The pizzeria is an offshoot of a US operation founded in Los Angeles in 2021, with branches in New Haven, Glendale and Canoga Park. Its London location was set up by Craig Taylor, a New Haven devotee and Arsenal supporter, and Milo Oddi, a Finsbury Park local who trained at the New Haven branch. The menu includes classic toppings such as cheese, pepperoni and sausage, plus a British-inspired fish and chips pizza topped with clams, salty potato scallops, pecorino and tartar sauce. Ozzy's is the second New Haven pizzeria to operate at The Bedford Tavern, following Lenny's Apizza, which has since relocated to a new space in Covent Garden.
