Wales end Nations League A hoodoo with 2-1 comeback win over Norway
Daniel James and Neco Williams struck as 10-man Norway folded in Cardiff, giving Wales their first ever win in the top tier of the UEFA Nations League.
Wales ended a long wait for a first win in the top tier of the UEFA Nations League with a 2-1 comeback victory over Norway at Cardiff City Stadium on 1 October 2026. Oscar Bobb had put Norway ahead inside 11 minutes, but the Scandinavian side were reduced to ten men when defender Torbjørn Heggem was shown a straight red card. Daniel James levelled the match before half-time and Neco Williams lashed home a free-kick moments after the sending-off to complete the turnaround. The win was Wales' first in nine Nations League A matches spread over two campaigns, in which they had previously picked up only a single draw and seven defeats. The result transformed Group A4, lifting Wales out of the relegation zone and denting the campaign of Norway's star-studded squad.
