Netflix Renews 'The Trauma Code' for Two More Seasons and Replaces Lead Actress

Netflix officially renewed the Korean hit drama The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call for Seasons 2 and 3, while recasting lead actress Ha Young with K-pop idol Jeong Ye-in following a family controversy.

Netflix announced on October 19–20, 2026 that its breakout South Korean medical drama The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call had been renewed for two additional seasons, confirming a rare double-season order that reflects the show's massive global success. The series debuted in January 2025 and accumulated 43.6 million views, spending five weeks in Netflix's global top 10. The four main cast members — Ju Ji-hoon as head trauma surgeon Baek Kang-hyuk, Choo Young-woo as Yang Jae-won, Yoon Kyung-ho as Han Yu-rim, and Jeong Jae-kwang as anaesthesiologist Park Gyeong-won — will all return. However, one significant change was confirmed: actress Ha Young, who played nurse Cheon Jang-mi in Season 1, will not return after a reported controversy involving allegations that her family held pro-Japanese colonial-era ties, a deeply sensitive issue in South Korea. She will be replaced by Jeong Ye-in, a former member of popular K-pop girl group LOVELYZ. The upcoming seasons will follow the trauma team working with stronger teamwork to save patients in even more desperate situations, while the lead character continues his mission to expand South Korea's trauma care infrastructure. The casting of Jeong Ye-in drew immediate attention from Korean pop-culture fans globally.
