Ostpro Fair Brings East German Nostalgia to Berlin's Karlshorst Racecourse
The annual Ostpro sales fair opens at Trabrennbahn Karlshorst from 23 to 25 October 2026, offering three days of Ketwurst, Spreewaldgurken, Rotstern chocolate, Pittiplatsch toys and Erzgebirge candles.
Berlin's annual Ostpro fair returns to Trabrennbahn Karlshorst from 23 to 25 October 2026, offering visitors a shopping and nostalgia experience centred on East German regional products, according to a Berliner Zeitung preview published on 21 October. Organised by SCOT-Messen, which has been running the fair since 1991, the three-day event is open daily from 10:00 to 17:00 and charges three euros admission, with children under eleven entering free. Food stalls will serve Ketwurst (the DDR-era street sausage in a hole-punched roll), Thüringen breads and cakes, Spreewaldgurken pickles, DDR-style soft ice cream, Rotstern chocolate and Pulsnitzer gingerbread. Non-food vendors will sell Erzgebirge wooden Christmas candles, knitwear, jewellery, cosmetics, regional books and Pittiplatsch and other beloved DDR children's character plush toys. The venue is wheelchair accessible. Ahead of the winter holiday season, organisers position the fair as both a shopping opportunity for early Christmas gifts and a cultural celebration of the former East's distinct consumer culture.
