USA Shatter World Cup Records with 17–0 Rout of Samoa at U-17 Women's World Cup

The United States Under-17 women's team beat Samoa 17–0 in Salé, Morocco — the largest winning margin in any FIFA Women's or Men's Under-17 World Cup — with forward Maddie DiMaria scoring six goals, the most ever scored by an individual in any single World Cup match at any age level.

In their opening Group B fixture at the 2026 FIFA Under-17 Women's World Cup in Salé, Morocco on 19 October, the United States obliterated Samoa 17–0 in a result that broke multiple all-time World Cup records. Forward Maddie DiMaria was the central figure, converting six goals to become the first player in history to reach that tally in a single World Cup game across any age group or gender tournament, surpassing records that had stood since the tournament's early years. The 17-goal margin itself was the highest ever recorded in an 11-a-side World Cup match at any level, eclipsing Morocco's men's U-17 team's previous record of 16-0. Ten different US players scored in total: Loradana Paletta and Carolina Reyna each added two goals, with Mia Corona, Grace Murray, Amari Manning, Deus Stanislaus, Isa Ortiz, Meila Brewer and Gianna Hanf each scoring once. For Samoa, the result reflected the enormous gap in development: six of their players were listed as unaffiliated with clubs. Head coach Ciara Crinion acknowledged a strong team performance while noting the result was shaped by the opposition's circumstances. The USA's next match was against China PR on 23 October.
