53rd Daytime Emmy Awards: Genie Francis to Receive Lifetime Achievement Honour
The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be held on Friday, October 30 at the historic Hollywood Palladium in Hollywood, California, with soap opera icon Genie Francis set to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award for her decades-long career in daytime television.
The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, presented by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS), will take place on Friday, October 30, 2026, at the historic Hollywood Palladium in Hollywood, California. The ceremony honours the best in daytime television from 2025 and will stream live on the NATAS website at watch.theemmys.tv and through the official Emmys app. There will be no separate Creative Arts ceremony this year; all trophies will be awarded during the same show. The Daytime Emmys have not been televised since 2024, when CBS broadcast the event.
Among the highlights of this year's ceremony, General Hospital star Genie Francis will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award. Francis first debuted on the soap as Laura Webber in 1977 and has remained one of daytime television's most enduring figures. Over her storied career she also appeared as Diana Colville on Days of Our Lives, Ceara Connor on All My Children, and Genevieve Atkinson on The Young and the Restless.
The full list of nominations was released on July 14. Drama contenders include General Hospital, The Young and the Restless, The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of Our Lives, and Beyond the Gates — the latter competing at the Daytime Emmys for the first time. The host of this year's ceremony has not yet been announced; last year's event was hosted by Mario Lopez, known for his work on Extra and his daytime role as Dr. Christian Ramirez on The Bold and the Beautiful.
