Treptow-Köpenick Begins €5.3 Million Renovation of 15 Volkspark Wuhlheide Entrances
Construction work started on October 19 to upgrade all 15 entrance areas of the 317-hectare Volkspark Wuhlheide, funded with €5.3 million in federal and state GRW grants, with completion expected in spring 2028.
On October 19, 2026, the district of Treptow-Köpenick officially launched construction work to renovate all 15 entrance areas of the Volkspark Wuhlheide, a 317-hectare popular green space in south-east Berlin that also hosts the FEZ children's leisure centre and an outdoor concert stage. Work begins at entrances along the street 'An der Wuhlheide,' starting with the corner access to FEZ-Straße and the main entrance serving both the FEZ and the park stage. Construction then progresses westward and along Treskowallee. The main entrance remains accessible throughout, though visitor routes may temporarily change. The goal is to make all access points more visible, improve infrastructure, and align them with the Wuhlheide brand identity. Expected completion: spring 2028. The project is financed with €5.3 million in federal and state funds from the GRW programme (Verbesserung der regionalen Wirtschaftsstruktur), administered by Berlin's Senate Department for Economy, Energy and Enterprises.
