Tasmania's Fat Pig Farm Reopens for Seasonal Long Lunches and Farm Tours

Award-winning chef Matthew Evans has reopened his celebrated Fat Pig Farm in Tasmania's Huon Valley for paddock-to-plate long lunches and guided farm tours, with monthly lunch sittings already sold out through the end of 2026.

Chef Matthew Evans, best known for the SBS television series Gourmet Farmer, announced on 20 October 2026 that his 70-acre Fat Pig Farm in Tasmania's Huon Valley had reopened for public experiences after a pause on regular dining that began in 2023. The farm now offers two main experiences. Guided farm tours run on select Saturdays, lasting 60 minutes and priced at $30 per adult (free for children under 16); they take visitors through the property's soil regeneration practices, heritage-breed pig paddocks, dairy cattle, goats, poultry and bees, and a functioning market garden with heritage apple orchard. Monthly 'Long Lunches' seat around 40 guests for intimate seasonal feasts created by Evans using produce grown and raised entirely on the property, paired with local Huon Valley beverages. So popular has the reopening been that all long-lunch dates through the end of 2026 are already sold out, and Evans is now accepting bookings for 2027 dates announced through the farm's Instagram account. The reopening reflects growing Australian appetite for immersive farm-to-table dining experiences.
