Google's Frightgeist Reveals the Top Trending Halloween Costumes of 2026
Google's Frightgeist tool has ranked the most-searched Halloween costumes of 2026, with Buddy the Unicorn topping the list and a NeeDoh stress ball coming in at No. 2.
Google's annual Frightgeist tool, which tracks top Halloween-related searches across the United States, has revealed its most trending costume rankings for 2026 — and the results lean heavily on pop culture, niche lore, and the genuinely unexpected. Topping the list at No. 1 is Buddy the Unicorn, followed by NeeDoh — a squishy stress-ball toy — at No. 2. The full top ten rounds out with Nikki from Obsession (No. 3), Agamemnon from The Odyssey (No. 4), Lily Love Braids from Poppy Playtime (No. 5), Oliver Tree (No. 6), Verity from Minecraft (No. 7), Carl from Dungeon Crawler Carl (No. 8), Disco Scooby Doo (No. 9), and Hazel Hook from Descendants (No. 10).
Couples costumes are also trending in unexpected directions, with pairings like Disco Scooby and Shaggy and Ricky and Carley Bobby from Talladega Nights surfacing alongside more familiar duos such as Wall-E and Eve and Woody and Bullseye.
Pet owners are not being left out. Top trending animal costume searches include Dolly Parton, Tow Mater, Princess Donut, and a Baked Potato, among others.
Beyond costume rankings, Frightgeist offers a searchable regional map so users can check whether their chosen costume is already popular in their neighborhood. Google is also surfacing tools for building horror movie watchlists, curating spooky playlists, and putting together last-minute DIY looks. KitKats and Reese's lead the most-searched Halloween candy results.
