Knife attack injures police officers in Wedding, shot fired
Berlin Police report that officers sent to Wedding on the evening of 27 September were injured in a knife attack, and a shot was fired during the incident. The incident involved a group of four young people aged 12 to 16 and a 28-year-old man.
In police report no. 1273, dated 28 September 2026 and filed under the Mitte district, Berlin Police say that officers from local police section 17/18 were called to Wedding the evening before. According to initial findings and witness statements, an incident took place between a group of four young people aged twelve to sixteen and a 28-year-old man. The headline says police officers were injured in a knife attack during the operation and that a shot was fired. The search excerpt available to me cut off before the rest of the report, so I can't give details on how badly the officers were hurt, who fired the shot or whether anyone was arrested. Readers should check the original report for those details. Note on the date: this report was published on 28 September 2026, not on the requested 29 September 2026. It is included as a fallback because no berlin.de press release dated 29 September could be found during research.
