Berliner Bäder Turn 30: Sixteen Pools Open Until 2 a.m. on 30 October
Berlin's public swimming-pool operator celebrates its 30th anniversary with a 'Long Night of Swimming' on 30 October, keeping sixteen indoor pools open until 2 a.m. and staging a light installation at Kombibad Seestraße.
Berliner Bäder-Betriebe, the company that has managed Berlin's public swimming pools since its foundation in 1996, marks its 30th anniversary with a special event called the 'Lange Nacht des Schwimmens' (Long Night of Swimming) on the night of 30 October 2026. Fifteen indoor pools across the city plus the Sommerbad Kreuzberg outdoor pool will extend their opening hours significantly, with some facilities remaining open until 2:00 in the morning — far beyond their usual closing times. The centrepiece of the anniversary event is a light installation inside the air-inflated hall at Kombibad Seestraße, which organisers say will transform the pool into a distinctive atmospheric experience for evening swimmers. The company positioned the event as an opportunity for Berliners to rediscover the city's public baths as night-time recreational venues, turning a routine leisure activity into what it called 'a special bathing experience'. The anniversary edition was reported in Berliner Zeitung on 21 October 2026 ahead of the event.
