Milwaukee Brewers Win First-Ever World Series Title, Beating Tampa Bay Rays

The Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 4-1 in the 2026 World Series, clinching their first championship in franchise history on October 28 with catcher William Contreras named MVP.

The Milwaukee Brewers became World Series champions for the first time in franchise history after beating the Tampa Bay Rays four games to one in the 2026 Fall Classic, with the clinching Game 5 played on October 28. Milwaukee won Game 5 by a score of 4-1, capping a dominant postseason run that included a sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLCS and a win over the San Diego Padres in the NLDS. Catcher William Contreras was named World Series MVP for his contributions throughout the series. The victory ended a 57-year title drought for Milwaukee, one of the longest championship waits in MLB history. The Rays, who had forced a Game 5 with a hard-fought extra-innings win in Game 4, remain without a championship. Series scores were: Game 1 Brewers 3-2, Game 2 Brewers 5-4, Game 3 Brewers 10-1, Game 4 Rays 4-3 (12 innings), Game 5 Brewers 4-1. With Milwaukee's win, only four MLB franchises now remain without a World Series title.
