Canelo Álvarez vs. Christian Mbilli: WBC Super-Middleweight Title Bout Set for Riyadh

Reigning WBC super-middleweight champion Christian Mbilli faces challenger Saúl 'Canelo' Álvarez in a title fight in Riyadh on October 31, with Álvarez returning from elbow surgery and a title-belt loss.

The most anticipated boxing match of late 2026 takes place on Saturday October 31 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, as WBC super-middleweight world champion Christian Mbilli defends his title against former multi-weight champion Saúl 'Canelo' Álvarez in a bout broadcast on DAZN PPV. Mbilli, a Cameroonian-born French fighter, was elevated to full WBC champion in January 2026 after the title became vacant. Álvarez, the Mexican boxing legend, lost his belts to Terence Crawford in September 2025 and underwent elbow surgery in early 2026 before mounting this comeback pursuit of the green-and-gold belt. Álvarez enters the fight as a -260 favourite, with Mbilli a +200 underdog. The main card begins at 2 p.m. ET, with ring walks expected around 6 p.m. ET. Mbilli, who holds a 22-0 record, said in the build-up: 'I'm coming for the win.' The fight generated enormous pre-event global coverage on October 30, with both camps confident and the full 168-pound division watching.
