Hertha BSC Aim for Fourth Straight DFB-Pokal Round of 16 at Jeddeloh
Bundesliga 2 leaders Hertha BSC travel to lower-division SSV Jeddeloh II in the DFB-Pokal second round, without three key players but as strong favourites to reach the last 16 for the fourth consecutive year.
Hertha BSC, currently top of Germany's second division, face regional-league side SSV Jeddeloh II at the Marschwegstadion in Oldenburg on Wednesday at 18:00 (Sky) in the DFB-Pokal second round. The tie comes with a warning: Jeddeloh knocked out 2. Bundesliga club 1. FC Heidenheim 5:2 in the first round, while Hertha had a much harder time, edging past 1. FC Saarbrücken only in a penalty shootout. Coach Leitl will be without striker Gustaf Nilsson, centre-back Marton Dardai and midfielder Boris Mamuzah Lum. Around 5,500 Hertha supporters are expected to make the trip to Lower Saxony. Jeddeloh's recently appointed head coach Burak Bahar brings a familiar face to the tie, having previously worked as co-trainer of Hertha's U17 side. A win would send Hertha into the Round of 16 (Achtelfinale) for the fourth year in a row.
