Milwaukee Brewers Take 2-0 World Series Lead Over Tampa Bay Rays

The Milwaukee Brewers lead the Tampa Bay Rays 2-0 in the 2026 World Series after rallying from a four-run first-inning deficit to win Game 2, with Game 3 set for Monday night in Tampa.

The Milwaukee Brewers head to Tampa with a 2-0 lead in the 2026 World Series — a series guaranteed to produce a first-time champion, as neither the Brewers nor the Tampa Bay Rays have ever won a title.

Game 2, played on Saturday 24 October, was the most dramatic contest of the series so far. The Rays jumped to a 4-0 first-inning lead off Brewers rookie Logan Henderson, but Milwaukee responded with five unanswered runs to win 5-4. That followed a 3-2 Brewers victory in Game 1 on Friday 23 October. Historically, teams that go up 2-0 in a best-of-seven series win it 83% of the time.

The Brewers reached the Fall Classic by sweeping the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-0 in the National League Championship Series, making their first World Series appearance since 1982. The Rays earned their spot by defeating the Cleveland Guardians in six games in the ALCS, with Junior Caminero delivering a decisive home run in Game 6. It is Tampa Bay's first World Series since 2020 and only their third appearance in franchise history; they lost both previous trips, including a defeat to the Philadelphia Phillies in 2008.

Game 3 is scheduled for Monday 26 October at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
