'Black Panther' Star Letitia Wright Says Death Threats Are 'Pulling Down' Her Mental Health
British actress Letitia Wright says relentless online death threats over private rumours are damaging her mental health, in a widely shared podcast interview.
In an interview on singer Paloma Faith's podcast 'Mad, Sad, Bad' and amplified by major outlets on October 10, 2026, 'Black Panther' star Letitia Wright opened up about the toll of persistent online harassment, including messages telling her she 'deserves to die'. Wright, who plays Shuri in Marvel's Wakanda saga, said the abuse followed speculation about her private life and marriage status that spread across social media over recent months. 'I have to forgive you because that's pulling down my mental health,' she said, questioning when free speech crosses into hate. Wright, who has previously spoken about battling depression early in her career, said her Christian faith and work with a therapist are helping her process the attacks, and that she is 'allowed to be complex and different and whole and still be worthy of love'. The interview trended on Yahoo UK, Complex, Essence and Parade, with mental-health charities praising her candour. The actress reiterated that she is becoming increasingly protective of her privacy, and urged fans to think about the human on the other side of a comment thread before sending abusive messages.
