Taylor Swift Roars Back to No. 1 as 'Patient Zero' Debuts Atop the Hot 100
Taylor Swift's reissued 'The Life of a Showgirl' leaps back to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for a 13th week, and new song 'Patient Zero' debuts at No. 1 on the Hot 100.
Billboard's charts dated October 10, 2026 confirmed a massive comeback for Taylor Swift: 'The Life of a Showgirl', originally released in 2025, soared 20 places back to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 for a 13th total week on top, after being reissued on September 25 with four previously unreleased tracks. One of those new cuts, 'Patient Zero', opened at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming Swift's 16th career chart-topping single. The other new tracks — 'Cleveland!', 'Babylon' and 'Pink Clouding' — also charted inside the top region, pushing Swift's lifetime top-10 count to 74, the most ever by a female artist. The reissue, titled 'The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore', was announced days earlier and drew huge first-week streaming numbers in the United States and overseas. The chart news arrived as organisers of the Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles confirmed Swift would deliver the closing performance at the October 17 ceremony. Across entertainment desks worldwide the story was framed as another record-smashing week for the pop star, who already dominated the recent MTV VMAs with 11 nominations and the inaugural Artist Director Honors.
