Air New Zealand Launches Three-Weekly Flights from Western Sydney Airport to Auckland
Air New Zealand began service between Western Sydney Airport and Auckland on 26 October 2026, operating three flights a week. The route is forecast to add more than 100,000 passengers annually and drive 10–15% growth in Sydney–Auckland tourism.
Air New Zealand launched its new Western Sydney Airport (WSI) to Auckland service on 26 October 2026, running three weekly flights on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays using Airbus A320neo and A321neo narrowbody jets. The outbound flight departs WSI at 9:00 AM and arrives in Auckland at 2:15 PM — a journey of three hours and fifteen minutes — while the return departs Auckland at 6:05 AM and lands at WSI at 7:50 AM. Bookings have been available since 2 April 2026. Officials project the service will generate more than 100,000 additional annual passengers between Australia and New Zealand and deliver 10–15% growth in Sydney–Auckland tourism flows. WSI is a brand-new facility targeting 10 million annual passengers by 2030, and Air New Zealand's launch is part of a growing international presence at the airport; Singapore Airlines is also scheduled to begin daily WSI–Singapore Changi flights from 23 November 2026. The new route complements Air New Zealand's existing operations at Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport, offering western Sydney's roughly 2.5 million residents more direct access to Auckland and the broader New Zealand tourism market.
