Grenada Sets Visitor Spending Record of US$387.8 Million in 2025
Grenada recorded approximately US$387.8 million in visitor spending in 2025, the first year the destination has exceeded the EC$1 billion threshold, with expenditure projected to climb further to US$395.6 million in 2026.
Grenada has reached a new tourism milestone, with the Grenada Tourism Authority reporting approximately US$387.8 million in visitor expenditure for 2025 — the first time the island has surpassed the equivalent of EC$1 billion in a single year. Spending is forecast to rise again to US$395.6 million in 2026, which would mark a second consecutive year above that threshold.
The 2025 figures reflect a 20.4 percent increase in visitor expenditure since 2023. Overnight travelers drove the bulk of that performance, accounting for roughly US$364.8 million — about 94 percent of total spending — up 5.14 percent on the previous year. Cruise visitors added approximately US$22.9 million, a sharp rise of 56.6 percent compared with 2024.
Recent arrivals data underscores the momentum: visitor numbers during the Spicemas carnival period from August 2 to 11 rose 20 percent compared with the same dates in the prior year, providing a further indicator of demand.
Looking ahead, the tourism authority is focused on spreading those economic benefits more broadly. Its newly launched Pure Experiences programme aims to connect visitors with locally run activities across Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique, with culinary tourism, heritage and culture, wellness and nautical tourism among the stated priorities.
"Our priority must be to deepen the connections between tourism and the wider economy," said Randall Dolland, the authority's chairman. Acting chief executive Kirl Grant-Hoschtialek added that making community-based experiences more visible and accessible would be central to the strategy going into 2027.
