Hidden Camera Found at Berlin HWR Student Residence
A hidden camera was discovered at a Berlin HWR (University of Applied Sciences) student residence, prompting a police investigation.
Students at the Hochschule für Wirtschaft und Recht (HWR Berlin) are shaken after a hidden camera was discovered in a shared facility of a university residence. Berliner Kurier reported on the campus privacy incident around 14/15 October 2026. The small device, which appears to have been placed in a bathroom or common area, was found during routine maintenance; the police are investigating potential offences of filming the intimate sphere without consent (section 201a StGB). The university has informed residents, offered counselling and promised a review of all buildings. Students called the breach a serious violation of trust and demanded better protection measures. The case joins a string of similar incidents at German universities that have alarmed women's rights organisations in Berlin.
