A young construction worker was killed in Berlin-Tempelhof when a steel beam fell on him at a hospital building site.
A fatal workplace accident shocked Berlin on 14/15 October 2026: a young construction worker was killed on a hospital building site in Tempelhof when a steel beam fell on him. According to dpa and police, the man was working below a load being manoeuvred by a crane when the beam came loose and struck him. Emergency crews, including an air ambulance, could not save him; he died at the scene. The site was immediately shut down and the technical oversight authority as well as the state criminal police took over the investigation. Prosecutors will examine whether safety precautions were observed and whether anyone bears criminal responsibility. Colleagues on site received psychological support. The accident reopens debate about safety standards on large Berlin construction projects.
