Anthropic Files for IPO at Up to $2 Trillion Valuation

AI company Anthropic has filed a Form S-1 registration statement with the SEC, seeking an IPO under the ticker symbol ANT that could value the Claude maker at up to $2 trillion — potentially one of the largest stock market debuts ever.

Anthropic, the artificial-intelligence company behind the Claude family of models, has filed a Form S-1 registration statement with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, taking a major step toward an initial public offering under the ticker symbol ANT. Reports suggest the listing could value the company at between $1.5 trillion and $2 trillion, which would put it in the same league as SpaceX — already the holder of the largest-ever IPO record after listing in June at a valuation of around $1.8 trillion.

Anthropic was founded about five years ago by Dario Amodei and a group of former OpenAI researchers who believed AI development needed a stronger focus on safety. Its prospectus revealed dramatic growth: first-half 2026 revenue reached $16.3 billion, a roughly 1,300 percent increase year-on-year. Adjusted operating income swung from a $1.8 billion loss during the same period last year to a positive $1.6 billion. The company still recorded a net loss of nearly $81 billion for the January-to-June period, up from $13 billion a year earlier. Its most recent private valuation, set in May, stood at $965 billion.

U.S. stock indexes rose on Monday following Anthropic's announcement. The IPO could come as soon as November, though no share count or price range was disclosed in the initial filing. Anthropic has also faced significant headwinds, including a Pentagon decision to label it a "supply chain risk" over disputes about military use of its AI — a battle the company is now fighting in two separate federal district courts.
