Early Voter Turnout in New York Nearly Double the Last Gubernatorial Election
New York City's Board of Elections reported early voting participation through the first several days is running at nearly twice the pace of the 2022 gubernatorial cycle, with Brooklyn leading all boroughs.
As early voting continued on October 29 — open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. — New York City's Board of Elections reported that turnout was tracking at nearly double the rate of the last gubernatorial election in 2022 at the same point in the early-voting window. Brooklyn led the five boroughs with 85,849 votes cast after four days, followed by Manhattan at 82,438, Queens at 71,106, the Bronx at 30,848, and Staten Island at 24,363. The early-voting period runs from October 24 through November 1, with Election Day on November 3. New Yorkers are deciding races for governor, attorney general, comptroller, congressional seats, and state legislature. The surge in participation was attributed to high interest in the governor's race, competitive congressional contests, and several ballot proposals.
