Minions & Monsters Arrives on Peacock Just in Time for Halloween

The seventh Despicable Me franchise film, Minions & Monsters — in which the yellow Minions accidentally unleash monsters on 1920s Hollywood — began streaming on Peacock on 28 October, nearly four months after its theatrical release.

Minions & Monsters, the seventh film in the Despicable Me franchise, began streaming on Peacock on 28 October, making its home-streaming debut just days before Halloween. The animated film opened in theaters on 1 July and is set in 1920s Hollywood, a period when the industry was transitioning to sound. The Minions face the painful discovery that nobody can understand their Minionese language — a tongue that series co-creator and Minions voice actor Pierre Coffin draws from Japanese, Filipino, Korean, Hindi, German and Indonesian dialects. Chaos spirals when the yellow creatures accidentally release monsters into the world. The voice cast is led by Allison Janney, Jeff Bridges and Jesse Eisenberg, with Zoey Deutch, Bobby Moynihan and Trey Parker — co-creator of South Park — also lending their voices. The film includes a scene in which a character named Max, voiced by Christoph Waltz, calls out Minions names that double as nods to legendary directors such as Federico Fellini and Erich von Stroheim. The Despicable Me series, which launched in 2010, holds the distinction of being the first animated franchise to cross $5 billion at the global box office.
