Knicks Raise Two Championship Banners at MSG Season Opener

The New York Knicks held a ring ceremony and banner raising at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday before hosting the Philadelphia 76ers, unveiling banners for their 2025-26 NBA title and NBA Cup — the first new banners at MSG since 2013.

Madison Square Garden erupted Tuesday night as the Knicks celebrated their first NBA championship in 53 years with a ring ceremony and banner raising before their season opener against the Philadelphia 76ers. Hall of Famer Walt Frazier presented championship rings to each player. Two blue banners rose to the rafters: one for the 2025-26 NBA title and one for the NBA Cup won earlier that season — the first new banners hung at MSG since the 2012-13 Atlantic Division pennant. Players wore white uniforms with gold trim. Point guard Jalen Brunson addressed a sold-out crowd: the joy that this city had this summer, we would love to replicate that again. The championship was clinched in five games over the San Antonio Spurs, capped by OG Anunoby's game-winning tip-in with 1.2 seconds left in Game 4 after the Knicks overcame a 29-point deficit. The ceremony marked the emotional peak of a franchise renaissance New Yorkers had waited decades to witness.
