Star-Studded 'Other Desert Cities' Revival Opens on Broadway
Jon Robin Baitz's 'Other Desert Cities' opened at the Hudson Theatre with Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Joe Keery making their Broadway debuts alongside Ed Harris, Allison Janney and Lily Rabe, to mixed critical notices.
The Broadway revival of Jon Robin Baitz's play 'Other Desert Cities' opened at the Hudson Theatre on West 44th Street on October 19, 2026, running through January 17, 2027. The production features an A-list cast: Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Joe Keery both make their Broadway stage debuts, joining veterans Ed Harris, Allison Janney and Lily Rabe. Set on Christmas Eve 2004 in a Palm Springs home, the play centres on a family gathering that unravels when the daughter reveals plans for a memoir that would expose her brother's alleged involvement in a fatal antiwar bombing. amNY critic Matt Windman described the revival as 'a packaging deal from a high-powered talent agency,' praising individual performances — particularly Louis-Dreyfus as family matriarch Polly Wyeth — while noting that the production 'feels creaky and familiar' compared to the celebrated 2011 original directed by Joe Mantello. The Broadway opening adds to an already busy season for the Hudson Theatre in Midtown.
