Man Critically Shot in Berlin-Lichtenrade, Homicide Unit Investigates

A 31-year-old man was shot and critically wounded on Nahariyastraße in Berlin-Lichtenrade on Tuesday evening; he underwent emergency surgery that night and a homicide commission has taken over the investigation into the unknown suspect.

A 31-year-old man was shot by an unknown assailant on Nahariyastraße in the Lichtenrade district of Berlin on Tuesday evening. Police said he was wounded at around 19:45 and suffered life-threatening injuries, requiring emergency surgery at a hospital the same night. Authorities confirmed on Wednesday that an earlier report describing the victim as 47 years old and not in mortal danger was incorrect on both counts. Based on initial investigations, police believe a single shooter was responsible, and a search for the suspect is under way. A witness suggested that a dispute may have taken place at a nearby café before the shooting occurred. Berlin's homicide commission and the state prosecutor's office are now leading the investigation into the identity of the perpetrator and the circumstances behind the attack.
