Four Arrested After Shots Fired in Berlin-Spandau Road Confrontation
Four men aged 21 to 31 were arrested Tuesday evening in Berlin-Spandau after a BMW was forced off the road by two other cars, shots were fired indiscriminately, and the 29-year-old BMW driver was beaten and kicked before being taken to hospital.
On Tuesday evening, a confrontation unfolded on the Altstädter Ring in Spandau involving three vehicles — a BMW, an Audi and a Mercedes — travelling at high speed toward Falkenseer Platz. At the junction, the Mercedes and Audi drivers allegedly forced the BMW into bushes at the roadside. Several occupants then got out, and one person allegedly fired a gun multiple times. Police described the shots as fired "indiscriminately" and gave no exact figure for the number of rounds. The 29-year-old BMW driver was beaten and kicked by multiple attackers and was subsequently treated in hospital. Officers who arrived at the scene arrested four men between the ages of 21 and 31. The weapon used was not recovered, though the vehicles involved were seized and extensive evidence was secured. The specialist unit Sonderermittlungseinheit Ferrum of the State Criminal Police (LKA) took over the investigation. The incident occurred the same evening as a separate shooting in Berlin-Lichtenrade, where a 47-year-old man was seriously wounded and underwent emergency surgery; his life is not in danger. Police say no connection between the two incidents is currently known, and the Lichtenrade gunman remains at large.
