Müggelsee half-marathon loops the lake in Berlin's south-east
Hundreds of runners circled the Müggelsee on 18 October in Berlin's traditional autumn half-marathon, with 5 km and 10 km races running alongside.
Berlin.de's running calendar and preview coverage flagged the Müggelsee-Halbmarathon as a key event for 18 October 2026. Start and finish are at the Hotel Müggelsee Berlin on the north shore. The 21.1-kilometre course, officially measured, runs clockwise around the lake: along the shore through the historic Spree tunnel to Friedrichshagen, Rahnsdorf, Wilhelmshagen and Hessenwinkel, then past the Schönhorst and Spreewiesen settlements and around the Kleiner Müggelsee to the finish. Four water stations support the runners. The half-marathon starts at 10 a.m., a 5-kilometre run at 10:20 a.m. and a 10-kilometre run at 10:30 a.m. for those who prefer shorter distances. The event is one of the quieter but best-liked Berlin autumn races, drawing recreational runners rather than elite fields and traditionally benefiting from the yellow Müggelsee forests at this time of year.
