London Bus and Tram Fares Rise for First Time in Three Years
Transport for London will increase bus and tram fares on 1 November, with single adult fares rising 10p to £1.85 — the first increase since March 2023.
Transport for London has announced that bus and tram fares across the capital will rise on 1 November, ending a freeze that has been in place since March 2023. Single adult fares will go up by 10p to £1.85, a change that also applies to the Hopper fare, which allows unlimited bus and tram journeys within one hour of tapping onto the first bus. Passengers travelling on eligible concession cards — such as 16+ Zip Oyster or Jobcentre Plus cards — will see their pay-as-you-go fares increase by 5p, while the daily bus and tram cap rises from £5.25 to £5.55. Tube fares are not affected by this announcement; increases for those are normally announced in March. Mayor Sadiq Khan had previously extended a planned fare freeze that was originally due to end in July, saying at the time that he would "continue doing everything in my power to keep TfL services as affordable as possible, as I know the cost-of-living crisis is still hitting many Londoners hard."
