Teriyaki Madness and Zipline Launch Autonomous Drone Food Delivery in Texas

US restaurant chain Teriyaki Madness partnered with drone logistics firm Zipline to offer fully autonomous food delivery in under five minutes from its Denton, Texas, location, with plans to expand across Dallas-Fort Worth and Houston.

Colorado-based restaurant chain Teriyaki Madness launched autonomous drone delivery in partnership with Zipline from its location in Denton, Texas, beginning 15 October 2026. The service uses Zipline's all-electric, zero-emission drones that operate fully autonomously: a customer places an order through the Zipline app, the drone retrieves the packaged meal once ready, and flies it to the delivery address. Upon arrival, the drone hovers at up to 300 feet and lowers a smaller tethered pod containing the order to the ground. Most deliveries complete in under five minutes, and the drones are engineered to operate in high winds and adverse weather. The service will expand across the wider Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and into Houston before the end of 2026; Zipline already operates at eight Houston-area shops. Teriyaki Madness, which runs more than 200 locations across 40-plus US states, is one of the first restaurant chains to adopt Zipline's home-delivery drone network at scale. Zipline, founded in 2014 initially to carry medical supplies by air in Africa, has now logged over 140 million autonomous commercial miles worldwide.
