SAS returns to India with new nonstop Copenhagen–Mumbai route
SAS launched its first direct Copenhagen–Mumbai service in 17 years on 1 October 2026, operating an Airbus A330 five times a week between Scandinavia and India.
Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) resumed scheduled service to India on 1 October 2026 with the inaugural flight of a new nonstop link between Copenhagen (CPH) and Mumbai (BOM), its first direct Indian route in 17 years. The service, numbered SK969/SK970, is operated by a 266-seat Airbus A330 five times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays; the outbound leg departs Copenhagen at 16:10 and lands in Mumbai at 04:30 local time the next day, with the return at 06:30 arriving at 12:15. SAS pitched the route as a bridge for the growing Indian diaspora in Scandinavia, business travellers to Maharashtra's financial capital, and American SkyTeam connections from major US hubs via Copenhagen. Indian aviation officials called it a significant vote of confidence in Mumbai's rebuilt airport capacity, while Danish tourism authorities highlighted expected inbound growth from India. The launch topped aviation and travel coverage on 1 October alongside Pegasus's European acquisition deal.
