Paris Opera streams MacMillan's 'L'Histoire de Manon' live from Palais Garnier

The Paris Opera Ballet performs Kenneth MacMillan's 'L'Histoire de Manon' live from the Palais Garnier in a free global stream on 15 October.

The Paris Opera Ballet performed Kenneth MacMillan's 'L'Histoire de Manon' live from the Palais Garnier on 15 October 2026, with a free global video stream distributed through the company's digital stage and partner broadcasters. The 1974 three-act ballet, set to arrangements of Massenet's music other than from his opera, follows Abbé Prévost's doomed Manon from a Parisian inn to the Louisiana swamplands, and remains one of MacMillan's most demanding partnered works. The run featured étoile Hannah O'Neill alternating with Hohyun Kang in the title role, and Hugo Marchand as Des Grieux, with Jonathan Darlington conducting the Paris Opera Orchestra. Backstage footage of the gilded Garnier auditorium under its Chagall ceiling, dressing-room interviews and multilingual chapter markers accompanied the stream, which was timed to begin at 19:30 Paris time. The event doubled as the ballet company's season highlight and a cultural centrepiece alongside the Massenet 'Manon' opera opening in San Francisco the same evening.
