Officer uses Taser on fleeing 14-year-old e-scooter rider in Köpenick
During a special traffic check in Köpenick on 22 September, a police officer used a Taser on a 14-year-old who was fleeing on an e-scooter.
In police report no. 1243, dated 23 September 2026 and filed under Treptow-Köpenick, Berlin Police say officers were running a special traffic check in Köpenick the previous afternoon. A 14-year-old e-scooter rider tried to get away from the check, and an officer used a Taser on him (in German, a 'Distanzelektroimpulsgerät', or DEIG). Using a Taser on a minor is a sensitive matter, which is why the report drew attention. The search excerpt available to me didn't say whether the teenager was injured, why he fled or what happened next, for example whether his parents were informed or charges were filed. Readers should check the original report. Note on the date: this report was published on 23 September 2026, not on the requested 29 September 2026. It is included as a fallback because no berlin.de press release dated 29 September could be found during research.
